Effects of therapeutic work with the families of psychotic patients treated in a day clinic

: A clinical analysis of results of systematic and individualized therapeutic work with families of 217 psychotic patients comprehensively treated in a day clinic is presented. Cooperation with family was possible in the case of 150 (69%) of the patients. Seventy percent of them positively reacted to the invitation of cooperation. Members of 105 families were participating in psychoeducational meetings. In the case of 20 families other forms of therapy were also proposed (individual, marital, dyadic "parent-patient"). In the case of 77 families the cooperation attained degree of regularity which allowed to assess the occurring changes. Finally, in 54 of the families some benefits were noticed concerning both the families' and patients' functioning. In 4 families benefits concerned the families', but not the patients' functioning. In 16 families only less significant changes was observed, and in 4--none at all.
