Optimal Capacitor Allocations using Fruit Fly Algorithm for Power Loss Mitigation

This paper investigates on minimizing the total network power losses using capacitor in Radial Distribution System (RDS). Fruit Fly Algorithm (FFA) is used for determining the sizing and Voltage Stability Index (VSI) is utilized to predetermine the location for capacitors. The present work is checked on standard IEEE 85-bus RDS. The outcome of the present approach is evaluated with the conventional methods. The result shows the developed method in identifying the optima sitting of shunt capacitor.
