The nonradial oscillation spectra of neutron stars
1985
We have computed nonradial oscillation spectra for a number of realistic, finite-temperature, nonrotating, nonmagnetic neutron stars containing solid crusts. The spectra consist of p-modes (with periods II 100 ms), g-modes trapped in the fluid core (II>10 s), shear (s-) and toroidal (t-) modes confined to the solid crust (II<1 ms), and interfacial (i-) modes associated with the stellar surface (f-mode: IIroughly-equal0.2-0.4 ms), the ''ocean''/crust interface (IIroughly-equal10-100 ms), and the crust/core interface (IIroughly-equal10-100 ms).
