Research of the fractional dimension property of 40Hz event-related potentials and its relationship with short-term memory capacity

By using different number of word chunks, each consisting of two-word Chinese vacabulary, as the stimulus events, we studied the fractional dimension propety of 40Hz Event-Related Potentialls (40Hz ERPs) under short-term memory tasks. After analyzing the short-term memory capacity and its relation with the fractional dimension property of 40Hz ERPs, we find out the that the dimension value will change greatly is the number of word chunk is around 7, i.e., the relative value of dimension of the two hemisphere will rreverse, and the absolute value of the same hemisphere will drop dramatically. this phenomenon confirms with the Psychological conclusion that human short-term memory capacity of Chinese words in around 6 or 7.
