Oxygen absorber of the present invention comprises a particle which functions as a photocatalyst and an organic compound chemically adsorbed on the surface of the particles. The oxygen absorber can be produced by a production method including a step of chemically adsorbed organic compounds on the surface of the particles that function as a photocatalyst. According to the present invention, the oxygen absorbent can be configured with high resin composition having oxygen absorbing power and the oxygen-absorbing resin composition and packaging material using the same can be obtained.
