A Non-Invasive Bone Fracture Monitoring Analysis using an UHF Antenna

This paper shows the design of an UHF antenna which can be used for monitoring a bone fracture. A simple cylindrical model is proposed to replicate the properties of bone with an inclusion representing a blood-mimicking lesions, indicating bone fracture. The proposed dipole antenna with dimensions of 150 mm x 110 mm is analyzed into CST Design Studio to show the s-parameters variations to indicate the presence of fracture. Two identical antennas are used on the top and bottom of the bone. The proposed method may serve the purpose of a low cost and non-invasive procedure for fracture monitoring. © 2020 IEEE.
