Occupational Accident in Malaysian Manufacturing Sector

The paper highlights the importance of safety culture in the Malaysian Manufacturing industry and emphasis on the severe occupational incidents. The negligence of standard operating procedures due to lack of safety culture and implementation of occupational safety health act 1994 has resulted substantial increasement in occupational incidents recently. The main purpose of this research is to investigate the occurrence of occupational accidents in the Malaysian workplace since 2015–2019. The department of occupational safety and health (DOSH) demonstrates that the reported cased of occupational incidents in year 2019 are extremely high as compared to the previous year 2015. As per the records in 2015, the confirmed occupation incidents reported was 2041, but the situation getting extremely fretted and in 2019, as the occupation incidents rouse to 4948, only in Manufacturing industry. The last five years of DOSH statistics revels that there were significant increase in cases of different categories of occupational incidents, such as permanent and non-permanent disability, fatal incidents, Muscle strains and inhaling toxic fumes are examined in Manufacturing Industries. In order to strengthen the occupational safety knowledge and practices government should focus on the vulnerable employees’ group. Set safety and protection at the forefront [11]. This aspect improves in better analyzing the occupational incidents. In fact, most of the workplace accidents are the direct result of not comply safety standards and precaution. This further helps to identify the areas that needs to mitigate the occupational hazards.
