A Bundle Approach for Cesarean Section Surgical Site Infection Prevention Results in a Zero Percent Surgical Site Infection Rate in C-Section Patients

2011
Background: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends annual influenza vaccination for all healthcare workers (HCW). CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices and Health Care Infection Control Practice Advisory Committee (HICPAC), recommend a proactive influenza vaccination program utilizing evidence-based approaches to maximize rates. National survey data demonstrated a vaccination coverage level of 42% among HCW during the 2005-2006 influenza season, below the Healthy People 2010 (HP2010) goal of 60%. Facility-specific vaccination strategies and resulting coverage rates, which are not available in Maine, can be used to inform vaccination efforts.
