Prostasomi - organele sjemene tekućine

2015
Prostasomes are membrane surrounded organelles secreted by epithelial cells of the prostate gland and are present in normal human semen. Bilaminal or multilaininar lipoprotein membrane contains a high amounts of cholesterol, sphingomyelin and enzyms. Prostasomes interact with sperm cells. This fusion is dependent on pH and requires one or more proteins on sperm and prostasome surfaces. The prostasomes are ascribed to have many biological functions. They protect spermatozoa in acidic environment, stabilize sperm plasma membrane and delay acrosome reaction, enhance sperm motility, inhibit the lymphoproliferation and the phagocytosis of macrophages, regulate the complement activation, possess an antioxydant capacity and inhibit uiral activity. Because of their role in regulating sperm motility and viability they could be used in improving results in assisted reproductive technologies using freeze-thawed spermatozoa.
