A miniature spherical explosive loading device
1996
Using several methods, we studied an explosive device in the form of a thin-wall spherical capsule filled with a homogeneous liquid explosive(LE) with a minimum mass of∼0.1 g or with a powdered quartz-LE mixture. It is shown that the chosen design of the capsule combined with electric-spark initiation in the center of the capsule ensures practically symmetric scattering of explosion products and of inert material, which guarantees one-dimensional loading of concentrical spherical shells. It is found that the use of inert powder materials broadens the range of applicability of the device. This is achieved, in particular, by a smoother, stage-by-stage loading.
