The Modal Decomposition of the Quality Factor of an Antenna in Prolate Spheroidal Coordinates

Abstract : This report discusses extending the results for prolate spheroids by including higher order modes and finding the sum of modes giving the minimum radiation Q. There is no coupling between odd and even modes, but there is coupling between the lowest order even modes. The report also presents a simple result for the values of the degree of mixing of modes 2, 4, and 6 that minimizes Q(sub r).
