The Imaging Diagnosis of Duodenal Adenomas

2008
Objective To assess the value of CT and hypotonic duodenography(HD)in diagnosing the duodenal adenomas.Materials and Methods CT and HD signs of 6cases of duodenal adenomas were reviewed and compared with the pathologic findings. The diagnosis and differential diagnosis values of CT and HD were evaluated. Results At HD,the filling defects were demonstrated.5 lesions had smooth margin and 1 lesion had slightly irregular margin.3 lesions with elliptic shape had their longitudinal axis paralleled to that of the intestine.2 of 3 lesions slightly lobulated,1 lesion with pedicle and 2 lesions movable. In addition, peripheral mucosa was normal.Intestinal wall was soft. The main CT signs included intraluminal mass with homogeneous entity, sharp margin and light to moderate enhancement.2 cases of the periampullary adenomas showed light to moderate dilation of bile ducts. Conclusion CT can display both intraluminal and extraluminal lesions.HD excels CT in observing intraluminal abnormalities, especially in demonstrating the pedicels and the movement of the adenomas which are regarded as the diagnosable characters.Combining CT with HD will improve the diagnosis of duodenal adenomas.
