Effect of Twice Changing Shoes on Air Quality in Laminar Air Flow Operating Department

OBJECTIVE To investigate the effects of twice changing shoes for the control of air quality in laminar air flow operating department.METHODS The surveillances of the air dust particles counts and air bacteria colony counts in operating rooms and corridors were developed respectively while changing shoes once and changing shoes twice.The bacterial concentration was monitored by the depositing method and airborne bacteria method.Then the surveillance results were analyzed.RESULTS There was no statistically significant difference of the air quality between the changing shoes once and changing shoes twice(P0.05).CONCLUSION Changing shoes twice are not needed before entering the laminar air flow operating room.But the management of procedure of changing shoes and the management of surgical staff in operating rooms should be enhanced.
