A Multilayer Microstrip Printed UWB LPDA

A multilayer microstrip design of ultra-wideband (UWB) log-periodic dipole antenna (LPDA) printed on dielectric plate is presented. The proposed design consists of array of printed dipoles fed by a dual-wire transmission line. Then the dual-wire transmission line is fed with a SMP connector. The dimensions of the dipoles and the spacing between each element are optimized by parametric simulations using full wave simulator. The size of the fabricated LPDA is $61\times 62\text{mm}^{2}$ . The LPDA has 9 octave bandwidth which covers the band from 2 GHz to 18 GHz. This LPDA has excellent radiation pattern performance from 2GHz to18GHz.
