Power Transformer Cores using Amorphous Metals: An Opportunity and Challenge for Australian Industry

1988
This paper presents the potential savings to be gained from adoption of amorphous metal cores for distribution transformers. It outlines the manufacturing problems to be solved in producing amorphous metal cores, and describes progress on a joint research project between the CSIRO and the S.A. Institute of Technology aimed at producing a pre-prototype, amorphous metal, stacked core distribution transformer.
