Prospects of using bioactive compounds in nanomaterials surface decoration and their biomedical purposes

2021
Nanotechnology is a field of science that has been emphasized as a very valuable method aimed at the prevention and treatment of various human health disorders. Actually bioactive compounds derived from a wide kind of plants and organisms, including algae and bacteria, have enormous potential for use as treatments for cancer, microbial infections, inflammatory diseases, and other medical conditions. Nanoparticle drug delivery systems offer some kind of protection encapsulated bioactive compounds and drugs from degradation and allow for controlled release, improving bio-distribution and allowing them to target tissues affected by biological disturbances. This review deals with a critical explanation of new strategies required to improve the efficacy of such molecules, which includes as an effective strategy to combine bioactive compounds with nanoparticles that could result in more efficient agents, according to their features as controlled delivery alternatives in addition to other aspects that could influence the size, shape and the yield of nanoparticles synthesized using green synthesis method.
