main matter of the presented study is the comparison of two different
system configurations for small-scale wind power plants (2kW). A
synchronous machine with permanent magnets was used as generator. The two
studied configurations differ in their way of feeding the electrical power
from the generator to the DC-link capacitor. The first topology deploys a
conventional six-pulse voltage inverter with IGBTs. For the second topology
a diode bridge and a conventional boost-converter is used.To evaluate the
two system configurations the development and parameterisation of a
generator model was necessary. Based on the model, control strategies for
both topologies were deduced. These control strategies were developed based
on the concept of field oriented control of synchronous generators. They
regard the different topological specifics of the two system
configurations. An important criterion for the comparison of both
configurations was the achievable energy efficiency. To diagnose the
efficiency with adequate accuracy the losses occurring in the system had to
be calculated. Therefore, one focus of the presented study was the
identification of the conduction and switching losses of the semiconductor
elements by simulations. The development of a superordinated MPP-control
allowed further improvement of the system. Another object of investigation
were the different possibilities to feed the generated power of the wind
plant to the grid or to a battery system.
