한우 도체형질의 유전능력 평가에 영향을 미치는 성의 효과

2019
The objectives of this study were; 1) to compare the differences in genetic parameters and breeding values for carcass weight (CWT), back fat thickness (BFT), eye-muscle-area (EMA), and marbling score (MAR) when they were estimated using whole data set or using subsets of data splitted by gender (cow or steer data), and 2) to estimate the genetic correlation coefficients between measurements of cow and steer within a same carcass traits in Hanwoo. Heritability estimates of CWT, BFT, EMA and MAR on cow data were 0.60, 0.46, 0.47 and 0.59, respectively. Corresponding estimates on steer data were 0.62, 0.54, 0.41 and 0.58, respectively. Heritability estimates of CWT and BFT were showed no clear difference between cow and steer data set. However heritability estimate of BFT and EMA on cow data were smaller by 8% and larger by 6%, respectively, than those on steer data. Genetic correlation coefficients of cow measurement with steer measurement within a trait were 0.77 for CWT, 0.79 for BFT, 0.79 for EMA and 0.87 for MAR, respectively. Rank correlation coefficients between breeding values estimated from cow and steer data within a trait tended to be low, ranging 0.45 (CWT) to 0.65 (MAR) in sire, and 0.29 (CWT) to 0.40 (MAR) in dam. These results suggest that parental breeding values for carcass traits might be changed on the data used for genetic evaluation.
