Transmission Grid Fundamentals

In this chapter we present an overview of transmission grid in the context of the energy markets and provide a comprehensive analysis of the long-term transmission grid challenges and incentives for investment. We also provide a vision for the smooth evolution of the transmission grid capable of supporting a low-carbon economy. In the Appendices we provide the fundamental concepts of the power systems, the power system structure, and the transmission grid.
