Complement, IgA, CNS and Mortality in SLE

1985
Abstract 85% of patients with SLE who died had signs of CNS involvement. This was invariably accompanied by a significant decrease of serum C 3 and a corresponding rise of the serum IgA. Brain associated antibodies were detected in some patients. The significance of the high concentration of prolactin in some SLE patients with CNS is being further investigated.
