Cooperative Vector Processing of GPS Signals

2021
This paper analyzes the potential to improve GPS receiver signal tracking through cooperation of vector processing receivers. Collaboration amongst vector tracking receivers is developed here with a third order Cooperative Vector Delay/Frequency Lock Loop (CVDFLL), where the receivers are assumed to share similar jerk dynamics. Analytical, simulation, and experimental results are given that show cooperation can provide large performance gains (+ 10 dB) to vector tracking when receivers share user dynamics, and small performance gains (+ 3 dB) to vector tracking when receiver dynamics are dissimilar. The results from the paper suggest dynamic modeling plays an important role in the enhancement provided by the CVDFLL.
