When the Australian Government delivered the White Paper on Homelessness on the eve of Christmas 2008, the former Prime Minister, the Hon. Kevin Rudd, MP and then Minister for Housing, the Hon. Tanya Plibersek, MP described the funding for the current National Partnership Agreement on Homelessness (NPAH) in these terms: '...This White Paper delivers a 55 per cent increase on the current investment in homelessness. This represents an additional $800 million over four years and is a down payment on the 12 year reform agenda. It also includes a commitment to additional social housing for homeless people of $400 million over the next two financial years...'
