Study on treatment of activated carbon from sewage sludge for methenyl blue dye waste water

2012
Activated carbons from sewage sludge were used to treat methenyl blue waste water. The effects of pH,the amount of activated carbons from sewage sludge and adsorption time on the decoloration and COD removal rates were investigated. The results show that both decoloration and COD removal rates decrease with the content of methenyl blue, increase with the amount of activated carbons from sewage sludge and adsorption time. The effect of pH on the COD removal rates is difficult to be explained. The optimum was at pH=7.6~7.8.The suitable conditions is that the content of methenyl blue waste water is 2.5mg/L,treated by 0.8g activated carbons from sewage sludge at 30℃ and pH 7~8 for 2h.
