BER and Complexity Comparisons of the MPIC Receiver and the Linear Chip Equalizer

2008
The introduction of multimedia and Internet services in UMTS universal mobile telecommunication system", is the origin of emergence of packet-access mode HSDPA high speed downlink packet access". This evolution will permit the transmission of data with packet mode at 10 Mb/s. In such a context, the quality of the transmission is degraded due to inter symbol interference, inter channel interference and the proximity of the constellation points. In order to improve the quality of service in HSDPA, it is necessary to reduce the inter symbol and inter channel interferences. In the setting of this work we compare between complexity and performances of two HSDPA receiver, MPIC receiver and linear chip equalizer. This study, shows that the complexity of MPIC depends of number of stages, correlators and paths and the complexity of linear chip equalizer depend on the length of the global channel.
