Polyazometals 1. A new class of conducting polymers containing metal - nitrogen = nitrogen monomeric linkages

Abstract A new class of conducting polymers containing metal - nitrogen = nitrogen (M − N = N) monomeric linkages, polyazometals (PAMs), is developed. PAMs are prepared simply by mixing azo ligands with metal ions in solution. Since the repetitive chelation process between the ligand and the metal ion leads to the formation of the polymer, no special synthetic reactions are involved in the polymerization step.
