Hannah Arendt's Philosophical Reflections on the "Banality of Evil"

2012
In the book The Origins of Totalitarianism,Hannah Arendt expounds on the extreme sins committed by the totalitarian regime through the "radical evils".However, her close attention to Adolf Eichmann makes her change her idea and conceive of the idea of the "banality of evil".She thinks that the sins committed by totalitarianism are more often than not facilitated by the mediocre and superficial people like Adolf Eichmann, and she further reflects on the social worries and individual responsibilities in the specific times in Germany.
