Design of SMC Products Using Initial Fracture Stress

In this study, textile reinforced SMC were developed in order to fabricate high strength SMC. Tensile tests of the textile reinforced SMC without and with circular hole were carried out. From the experimental results, various design parameters such as knee point stress and allowable stress for SMC products were proposed. Especially, the braided hole contributed to the improvement in the maximum load in the case of the hole with pin. These differences were due to continuous fiber around the circular hole.
