El cartílago articular: aspectos mecánicos y su repercusión en la reparación tisular

2002
Articular cartilage is a tissue of low cellular density with predominance of the extracellular matrix composed of collagen and non-collagen proteins. The disposition and integrity of these proteins are the basis for conserving this tissue in the best possible condition. The peculiar characteristics of articular cartilage, lack of blood vessels, low cellular density, etc., make tissue repair difficult and compromise the resistance of cartilage to factors such as age or excess weight, which contribute to the appearance of degeneration.
