Cemented femoral fixation: Any indication in 2017?

2016
Abstract Cemented femoral fixation should be used for total hip arthroplasty (THA) for certain indications and is highly durable and reproducible. Our clinic in over 20 years has 90% survivorship. Proper technique is crucial for success and this article focuses on the details of the surgical technique for total hip arthroplasty by the senior author (C.S.R.). Key steps are achieving a dry field, good cement mantle, neutral stem position, and reproduction of anatomic geometry in terms of center of rotation, leg length, and offset. In addition to superior technique, wear resistant polyethylene and proper patient selection are other reasons for our excellent results.
