CORRELATION OF THE ACID CONSUMPTION VALUE WITH THE URANIUM CONTENT OF ORE CONCENTRATES

1961
A graphical correlation was made for the acid consumption value versus the U content of various U concentrates prcduced in 1958. A digital computer was used to analyze the data statistically by the least-squares method. Eighty per cent of the l16 experimental points plotted fell within plus or minus lO% of the value of gamma predicted by the equation 100 gamma = (gram equivalents of HNO/ sub 3//gram ore), x = uranium concentration of ore (%). Only the Bicroft concentrates devated markedly from this curve; they gave an identical curve except that the 2.98 team became 3.24. A similar study of twelve concentrates produced in 1961 indicates a merging of the Bicroft curve and the general curve to yield a new curve between the two. The equation for this curve is 100 y = 2.036 - 0.0176 x. (auth)
