The NAASRA bridge design code: design philosophy and load definition

NAASRA Is revising its bridge design code in a limit states format. Design procedures will be similar to previous methods, but the design constraints are more explicitly described and must be checked. It is hoped that the design philosophy adopted by the code will be clear and logical and thus aid in avoiding gross errors in design. Constructive criticism of the draft proposals are requested from all those interested in bridge design and code writing (a).
