Challenges in application of hybrid enhanced oil recovery processes

Abstract This chapter illustrates major challenges encountered during applications of hybrid enhanced oil recovery (EOR) processes introduced in the previous chapters. First, reservoir adaptability is discussed for different hybrid EOR processes. Then, the effect of reservoir lithologies on the performance of these EOR processes is studied. Next, because the development of offshore heavy oil reservoirs has received increasing attention, differences between offshore and onshore heavy oil reservoirs in the performance of hybrid EOR processes are demonstrated. In addition, the conversion and operation times for these processes are studied. The formation damage after these hybrid EOR processes is discussed as well. Finally, examining the continuous EOR process of heavy oil reservoirs, methods after hybrid EOR processes are proposed.
