Simultaneous detection of optical constants ε1 and ε2 by Brewster angle reflectivity measurements

A new method for determination of the dielectric function e is presented. The experiment is based on the simultaneous measurement of the Brewster angle φB and the reflectivity Rp for light polarized parallel to the plane of incidence. e1 and e2 as a function φB and Rp were calculated and the results plotted as contour plots with the optical constants as parameters. Spectral measurements yield e1 and e2 as a function of photon energy. Results obtained on GaAs are evaluated and correspond well to literature data.
