Analysis of specific products from the pyrolysis of halons in a running Diesel engine
1991
We examined the products which resulted from the pyrolysis of halons in a running dieselmotor. Particles were separated by an appropriate filter. The remaining organic gases were bound to modified charcoal and sorbing polymers and analyzed by means of automatic thermo-desorption (ATD). When using a Flame-Ionisation-Detector the gas-chromatograms showed a significant better combustion in case of the halon loaded fluegases compared to the blanks. Likewise one found several new peaks in the chromatograms that result from an Electron-Capture-Detector after halon application.
