Heterotricyclically substituted phenyl-cyclohexane-carboxylic acid derivative

PURPOSE: To provide novel compounds having angiotesin II antagonism and useful as hypotensive agents and anti-arteriosclerotic agents. CONSTITUTION: Heterotricyclically substituted phenyl-cyclohexane-carboxylic acid derivatives are represented by the formula I [wherein A and B together are -(CH 2 ) 3-5 or -CH=CH-CH=CH-; D and E together form a group of one of formulae II-VI (wherein R 1 -R 3 are each substitutable aryl, alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl or a halogen); L is H, a halogen, NO 2 , OH, CF 3 , OCF 3 , alkyl, alkoxy, alkoxycarbonyl, CN or COOH; T is CO 2 R 4 , CO-NR 5 SO 2 R 6 or a group of formula VII (wherein R 4 is H, alkyl, phenyl or the like; R,, and R 7 are each H or alkyl; R 6 is CF 3 , alkyl, substitutable phenol or the like; R 8 is substitutable aryl; R 9 is CH 2 -OR 10 , -CO 2 R 11 or the like; R 10 is H or alkyl; and R 11 is H, alkyl phenyl or the like)] and include, e.g. trans-2-{4-[2,4-dimethyl-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro-α- carbolin-9-ylmethyl] phenyl}-cyclohexane-1-carboxylic acid of formula VIII.
