Variations of Slot Cut Multiband Isosceles Microstrip Antennas for Dual-Polarized Response

A variation of equilateral triangular microstrip antenna is isosceles triangular microstrip antenna. It exhibits identical resonant mode field distributions. In this paper, multiband and dual-polarized designs of isosceles triangular patch antenna for increasing isosceles angle using offset coaxial feed and rectangular slot are proposed. The combination of offset feed and slots yields optimum input impedances at TM10, TM01, TM11, and TM02 modes of the patch that yields dual-polarized response with 1–1.5% of bandwidth at each of the frequencies. Here at first two resonant modes, broadside radiation pattern is obtained whereas conical pattern showing pattern maximum along the end-fire direction is obtained at third and fourth resonant modes.
