Effects of modified blood transfusion apparatus on removal of silicon oil
2019
Objective
To explore the effects of modified blood transfusion apparatus on removal of silicon oil in 23G minimally invasive vitrectomy system.
Methods
Totally 157 patients with silicon oil eye admitted in the Department of Ophthalmology between January and December 2017 were selected by convenient sampling. Silicon oil was removed with the modified blood transfusion apparatus connected to 23G minimally invasive vitrectomy system. The patients' postoperative intraocular pressure (IOP) was evaluated.
Results
Silicon oil was successfully removed from the 157 patients with satisfactory results. IOP recovered well 1 week postoperatively.
Conclusions
It is feasible to apply the modified blood transfusion apparatus into 23G minimally invasive vitrectomy system for the removal of silicon oil.
