Combined Saccular Aneurysm and Proximal Interruption of the Inferior Vena Cava Associated with Budd-Chiari Syndrome

1992
Inferior vena cava (IVC) aneurysm is a rare anomaly. Before 1989, only six cases had been reported in the literature [1]. Complete obstruction of the IVC at the diaphragmatic level causing Budd-Chian syndrome is also a rare entity [2]. We report a case of complete obstruction of the IVC and left hepatic vein, combined with an aneurysm of the infrarenal segment of the IVC. To our knowledge, such an anatomic variation has not been reported before.
