Glow plug for diesel engines

A pencil type glow plug preheats the fuel-air mixture in the combustion chamber of a self-igniting internal combustion engine. The pencil type glow plug has a heating ceramic device and the resistance of the heating ceramic device is increased by reducing its cross-section in the area in which the fuel-air mixture is most accessible in the combustion chamber.
