Discrete signal processing usingfuzzyfractal dimension andgradeoffractality isproposed basedonthe novelconcept ofmerging fuzzy theory andfractal theory. The fuzzy concept offractality, orself-similarity, indiscrete time series canbereconstructed asafuzzy-attribution, i.e., akindof fuzzy set. Theobjective short timeseries canbeinterpreted as anobjective vector, whichcanbeusedbya newlyproposed membership function. Sliding measurement usingthelocal fuzzy fractal dimension (LFFD)andthelocal gradeoffractality (LGF)isproposed andapplied tofluctuations inseawater temperature aroundtheIzupeninsula ofJapan.Several remarkable characteristics arerevealed through "fuzzy signal processing" using LFFDandLGF.
