Pharmaceutical composition of hydrophobic medicinal agent in form of oil in water emulsion

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition having a marked long term stability and also a sustained releasing property, and stable to a sterilization with an autoclave treatment by containing an oily carrier consisting of a MCT oil formulated with a plant oil, a phospholipid and a mixture of surfactants as necessary. CONSTITUTION: This pharmaceutical composition as an oil in water type emulsion contains a an lipophilic medicinal agent, 3-50% (W/V), especially 10-20% oily carrier consisting of a MCT (a middle chain triglycedride), 0.05-20%, especially 0.75-2% plant oil and phospholipid, 0.03-10%, especially 0.5-3% nonionic surfactant (e.g.; a copolymer of a polyoxyethylene with a polyoxypropylene) and 0.05-5%, especially 0.5-2% ionic surfactant selected from a biliary duct surfactant, a cholic acid and their derivatives. The content of the medicinal agent is, e.g. 0.015-0.15% for amphotericin B, 0.1-1% for diazepam and indomethacin, and 2-5% for ciclosporin. COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO
