The selectivity of an interference controlled oxide /metal solar absorber is considered. It is argued that for high solar absorption it is important to have a low interference maximum as well as minimum. The reflectance of a double layer is calculated within the conventional interference formalism assuming homogenous layers and sharp boundaries. With the use of some simplifications the value of the interference maximum is derived corresponding to an interference minimum at 0.8
