Laser vibrometry system for rotating bladed disks

1999
The application of laser vibrometry to high speed rotating structures has been hampered by technical limitations of the tracking systems employed. Whereas full field three-dimensional velocity measurements can be made on stationary structures, the capability of on rotating structures is limited to low speeds, one-dimensional, steady state operation. This paper introduces a self-tracking laser vibrometry system which overcomes many of the limitations of current techniques for vibration measurement on rotating structures.
