A method for testing the sensitivity of electronic components by particle and photon beams by means of laser-plasma interaction

2010
A method for testing the sensitivity of electronic components and circuits with respect to particle and photon beams with the aid of laser-plasma interaction, in which due to the flexibility of the multi-faceted interaction several types of radiation such as electron, proton, ion, neutron and photon beams and combinations of these types of radiation can be generated in a wide range of parameters that are relevant for the use of electronic components in space, such as satellite, at high altitudes or in devices operating with radioactive materials such as nuclear power plants. It relevant radiation parameters areas are accessible here who were with conventional accelerator technology has not or only partially accessible. Due to the comparatively compact design of the method, radiation tests can be performed in smaller laboratories at comparatively low cost.
