The development of dual antiplatelet therapy: physiologic and clinical implications of multiple pathway inhibition of platelet function

Abstract Dual antiplatelet therapy has become an integral part of the care of patients with vascular disease. It evolved in conjunction with percutaneous coronary interventions for acute coronary syndromes but has also been evaluated for patients with chronic coronary syndrome and peripheral arterial disease. This chapter will focus on the evidence generation for dual antiplatelet therapy for patients with vascular disease.
