A Comparison of Finite Difference Schemes, Describing the Two-Dimensional Advection Equation

In recent years much attention has been paid to research of an accurate numerical integration technique of the advection equation. As the advection equation plays an important role in a wide variety of fluid dynamical problems, all with different requirements, it is unlike that there will he found an overall best and suitable method Therefore we shall restrict ourselves to methods which are or have been applied in the field of air pollution modelling.
