The invention discloses a mobile distribution transformer temperature monitoring device based on infrared communication and a method. A signal processing unit measures the wavelength of fiber grating reflection center and converts the wavelength into a temperature value corresponding to a fiber grating temperature sensor measurement point. A temperature sensor and the signal processing unit carry out continuous measurement on distribution transformer operating temperature. A local temperature measuring terminal locally stores monitoring data according to a set time interval. When operation and maintenance personnel carry out inspection, a handheld data receiving terminal is used to receive distribution transformer operating temperature data through infrared communication. Continuous monitoring is carried out on the operating temperature data of a distribution transformer within a period of time. Basic data support is provided for distribution transformer state maintenance. Infrared data transmission is prevented from electromagnetic interference, does not produce additional communication cost and has the advantage of small investment.
