Lightning Strike Ablation Characteristics of Overhead Transmission Lines

2020
The accidents caused by lightning strike on transmission lines affect the power supply reliability of power system seriously. The research on strands breaking of overhead transmission lines caused by lightning strike mainly focuses on numerical simulation and accidents analysis. There are few researches on overhead transmission lines ablation characteristics. The typical types (JL/G1A-120/20-26/7, and JL/G1A-240/30-26/7) of overhead transmission lines were selected to test with simulated lightning in this paper. Tensile force (15% RTS, 25% RTS and 35% RTS) and transfer charge (50 C, 100 C, 150 C and 200C) were selected to test their influence on the test results. Through ablation morphology analysis, it can be concluded that tensile force and transfer charge are both proportional to lightning strike damage to overhead transmission lines in the case of strands twisting tightly. This paper provides the foundation for following researches about ablation characteristics of overhead transmission lines and has the guiding significance for engineering lightning protection.
