Method of using pulse laser to calibrate transient surface temperature detectors

1996
A dynamic calibration system for transient surface temperature detectors is introduced. In this system a pulse laser and a continuous laser are used as excitation sources. The static and dynamic calibrations have been carried out respectively with the use of the continuous CO 2 laser and Nd-glass pulse laser. Several quick response thermocouples have been tested on the system. The experimental results have shown that this calibration system can be used to calibrate transient surface temperature detectors with a time response on order of microseconds.
