Hace ya algún tiempo: Carlos Castilla del Pino

2020
Carlos Castilla del Pino was an Andalusian psychiatrist who died in 2009. He began to be well-known beyond the field of Psychiatry thanks to his research on isolation and depression in the late 60s. He was also an exhaustive writer who came to occupy the armchair “Q” of the Royal Spanish Academy. His clinical activity performances were outstanding - he himself estimated that he attended more than 100,000 patients throughout his life -, and he became increasingly highly regarded as, due to his political ideology, he was denied for several times the chair of Psychiatry, until he got it, a few years before he retired, by a decree of the first socialist government of Felipe Gonzalez that also granted other intellectuals of that time.
